Manchester United midfield found wanting again!
With all the craze around their latest signing, namely the Dutch striker and former Arsenal talisman, Robin Van Persie, excited Man United fans waited in anticipation as they clinched their fists at the prospect of seeing the illustrious RVP take the pitch for the Red Devils in what was one of the most controversial signings in the history of the Premier league.
Two debuts for Manchester United in RVP and Shinji Kagawa were sadly not enough to overshadow the big issue in the Old Trafford artillery which is a gaping hole of security and creativity in the midfield.
Throughout the match continuous threat from the Everton side which soon saw Belgian Striker Marouane Fellani slot in a goal in the second half was tribute to the Everton side’s midfield attack, a weapon the Red Devils simply could not muster.
In the last few seasons, it has become evident Ferguson would need to invest proper game changers and that is still the case as nobody once again proved capable of role as mediocrity was the name of the game. With poor performance in the middle, what’s the point of a high profile strike force up front?
Yes, this is only the beginning of the competition; however, this issue has become Man United’s problem and one that could see their neighbours take the spoils once again should they not shuffle up the rotation in the centre. Possibly consider playing Wayne Rooney as attacking mid as he’s proven time and time again he is more than capable of that role, and will be able to despatch the likes of Hernandez and RVP!!
