SA on the podium again



Last night South Africa won its 4th medal of the London 2012 Olympics. Chad Le Clos brought SA it’s first silver medal of the games and third in the pool.

Swimming the shorter distance 100m race compared to the 200m Butterfly he successfully won earlier in the week. The same nemesis, Michael Phelps came good in this race and Le Clos had to settle for second this time round.


Phelps, who made a mistake in the 200m butterfly final by gliding to the wall, managed not to repeat it and won the race with a time of 51.21.Le Clos finished joint second with Russia’s Evgeny Korotyshkin in a time of 51.44.

This is the South African swimming team’s best performance sInce the 1996 Atlanta Games, where Penny Heyns won gold medals in the 100m and 200m breaststroke, while Marianne Kriel won a bronze medal in the 100m backstroke.
