Le Clos Wins South Africa’s Second Gold!

Waking up this morning, I’m sure most of you know already. Last night, South Africa effectively doubled its Medal total at the London Olympics with Swimmer Chad Le Cos winning Gold in the 200m Butterfly.

Most South Africans were glued to their seats as the 20 year old swam the race of his life against one of the greatest swimmers the games will probably ever see, Michael Phelps. I found myself jumping for joy as right at the very end of the race; Le Clos pipped Phelps to Gold. Winning in a time of 1:52.96

Watching the medal ceremony and hearing our national anthem nearly brought tears to my eyes. Let’s just hope it’s not the last time we get to hear it at these games again.

Well done Chad! Thank you for making South Africa proud again.
