Proteas seem unstoppable, Amla stays on top!

The Proteas drew first blood in the opening One Day International when they beat world number one Englangd in their own backyard yesterday.

The Proteas won the toss and opted to bat first, before the silent assassin and vice Captain Hashim Amla  steal the show yet again when he ran away to yet another century with the help of his Test side Captain Greame Smith steaming along in support with a handy 50 to tally toward the Proteas complete score of 287 runs at the end of the fifty overs.

The Poms chased, with a valiant effort but were soon curbed by brilliant bowling in particular from the likes of pace bowler Lonwabo Tsotsobe, who played an integral role in restricting the English to 207 runs all out, ultimately securing the Proteas win.

Following yesterday’s victory, Amla became the first player ever to smash Sir Vivian Richards recors as he dashed to 3000 runs in the fastest time ever. He reached this milestone in ten innings less than Richards who nows falls to second place.
