Transport options for Manchester United vs Ajax Cape Town game

In support of the Mandela Day celebrations the 19-time English Premier League Champions, Manchester United, will play Ajax Cape Town in the MTN Football Invitational on 21 July 2012 at Cape Town Stadium where 55 000 spectators are expected.

This match, which forms part of Manchester United’s 2012/13 pre-season tour, will start at 15:00 and spectators are urged to arrive early.

As there is no parking available at the Stadium spectators are encouraged to make use of the numerous public transport options available although the standard fees will apply to scheduled public transport. The event shuttle services from UCT, Hout Bay and the MyCiTi Civic Centre bus station will be free on presentation of a valid match ticket.

Trains
Trains to and from Cape Town will run as per their normal schedule and passengers will be required to pay the standard tariff. Train schedules and related information are available from:

Free parking is available at park-and-rides serving rail stations at Athlone, Ottery, Claremont, Retreat, Fish Hoek, Oosterzee, Goodwood, Kuils River and Strand. A nominal parking fee applies at Century City (R20 per vehicle) and GrandWest (R10 per vehicle).

Event bus shuttles
Park-and-rides served by the free event shuttles are situated at UCT Upper Campus where parking is free, Kronendal Primary School where a R20 per vehicle fee applies and at Maiden’s Cove in the free municipal parking area off Victoria Road.

Between the Civic Centre and the Stadium

The first bus from the Civic Centre bus station in Hertzog Boulevard departs at 12:00. Thereafter a bus will leave every 15 minutes or when full. The last bus will leave the Stadium bus station at 19:00.

Between the University of Cape Town (UCT) and the Civic Centre

The first bus from the UCT Upper Campus departs for the Civic Centre bus station in Hertzog Boulevard at 12:00. Thereafter a bus will leave every 15 minutes or when full. The last bus will leave the Civic Centre bus station at 19:10.

Between Hout Bay and the Stadium

The first bus from the Kronendal Primary School field to the Stadium departs at 12:00. Thereafter a bus will leave every 15 minutes or when full. The last bus will leave from the corner of Main and York Roads at 19:00.

MyCiTi service: Civic Centre to Table View, Waterfront and Gardens

The standard hours of operation and fees for the MyCiTi service between the Civic Centre and Table View bus stations will apply. Passengers will be required to use the
