Football Update : 11 July 2012
The deeper we go into this transfer season the more interesting it get. Well, for some. We’ve seen some movement and lots of gossip. Most players are still on Holiday and a few of them will have major surprises when they return, like some with a new boss!
Another Manager who’s not going anywhere soon is City’s Roberto Mancini who just signed a new 5 year deal ending any rumours of potential moves to Russia. Not that that could’ve been believed.
RVP still hot property! Manchester City will open up with a £15m bid for Arsenal striker Robin Van Persie, 28, but Barcelona and Paris Saint-German also want the player, who has decided against signing a new contract.
Midfielder Yaya Toure has rejected a shock return to Barcelona and pledged his future to Manchester City. But the Blues could still lose Toure’s fellow midfielder David Silva, with Real Madrid refusing to give up hope of signing the Spanish international.
Barcelona are considering a move for Newcastle’s 26-year-old French international midfielder Yohan Cabaye.
Striker Danny Welbeck is in dispute with Manchester United over a new contract. The 21-year-old England player is entering the final year of his current deal with his advisors and the club at loggerheads over wages on a new four-year agreement.
The Glazer family’s timing for floating Manchester United is facing criticism from some analysts who claim they are deliberately avoiding having to present United’s expected decline in financial performance in 2011-12.
And the Rest: News out of Merseyside seem Liverpool are very close to capturing the signature of Clint Dempsey for 7.5 million pounds, Adebeyor might make last year’s successful switch to Spur permanent – apparently for as little as 5 million pounds but may have to take a drop in Wages to fit in with spurs wage policy, Manchester United may ramp up their offer for Sao Paulo’s Lucas Moura to 30 million pounds but face stiff competition from Inter Milan.
