The Boy’s got Game
And everyone around him is clamouring for his signature. That man, Eleazar Rodgers is in high demand.
Sadly the end of this PSL season brought negative news to the Cape football scene. Santos, the people’s team were relegated from the top tier of SA Football. Having spent much of recent memory fighting to maintain their place among SA’s elite, they finally succumbed to Chippa United in a gruelling playoff battle.
But as they say, every cloud has a silver lining. That lining seems to be the sudden recognition of Eleazar Rodgers as a premier striker in the league. Having scored 13 goals during the 2011 Premiers Soccer League (PSL), the striker is hot property at the moment. The football scene has been rife with news that Sundown, Wits and now Pirates have been trying to sign the Kuils River born player. Almost assuring that the player will be moving upcountry to the big lights of Gauteng.
Fees of around R7 million from Sundowns have been touted and most people believe it worth it. Having turned down the chance to play for Bafana Bafana during the last round of qualifying rounds, to help Santos fight for survival. Sometimes the good guys don’t finish last.
