Smaller Apple iPad rumoured?
Rumours are rife again that Apple are in the process for producing a smaller version of their market leading tablet the Apple iPad.
According to reports, the smaller tablet will have a screen size of between 7 and 8 inches – much less than the current versions that stood at 9.7 inch. This news comes hot on the heels of announcements by Google and Microsoft of Tablets as well as expected announcement of a new Kindle Fire.
The tablet could be announced as soon as October, with various Asian manufacturers credited with production of components. Most report that the smaller iPad will lack the Retina display as seen in its latest big brother.
The cheaper iPad could pose a formidable opponent against a host of smaller players, such as various Android tablets, the new Google Nexus tab we reported on a few weeks ago as well as the expected Kindle Fire 2. Hopefully Apple can match the $199 (roughly R1650) price range of these foes.
Overall this is very good new for the market as it will make owning a tablet more accessible to more people and hopefully growth the global market, of with Apple’s iPad currently holds 67%, further.
