The King of the Octagon
Recently Anderson “the Spider” Silva posed for Rolling Stone Brasil. But when he decided to pose as the “King of Pop” he clearly decided to send a message to the rest of the MMA community that he truly is comparable to the greatest musical performer ever, Michael Jackson.
The superstar that Silva has become as an athlete it shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone that he would be celebrated in a mainstream commercial publication like Rolling Stone because when he performs inside the Octagon he is nothing short of a rockstar. Anderson Silva is the current long time UFC Middleweight champion with a record of 34-5 and without a loss since being in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, he truly has cemented his spot as the greatest Mixed Martial Artist of all time.
The article featured shows us a behind the scenes look at the lifestyle of “The Spider”. The gallery has a variety of different images, from his family life to his fighting life, Silva gives us a very down to earth look into his personal life despite his rise into such super stardom he still maintains a very humble approach to life.
Silva’s next trip into the Octagon will see him face his toughest opponent yet in Chael Sonnen. Chael is the only man to face Anderson and make him look beatable, make him look human by almost going the distance and taking away his crown. Sonnen was beating up Anderson for the better part of 4 rounds. Leading up to the fight Chael kept saying he would put Silva “on his back and beat a whole in his face for 25 minutes or until he gives up” and those words almost came to fruition until the last 2 minutes of the 5th round when Anderson slapped on a triangle choke and made Chael tap.
The rematch is taking place on 23rd of June at UFC 147 and was initially scheduled to take place in a soccer stadium in Brasil but after conflicting arrangements for the venue, and death threats directed towards Chael Sonnen, the venue has now moved back to Las Vegas where Chael will have the home ground advantage.
UFC will be the greatest rematch in MMA history and this photo gallery may be the last images we see of Anderson Silva as champion, but i highly doubt that.
