Nate Diaz gets that title shot

Nate Diaz(16-7), younger brother to welterweight king pin Nick Diaz, has earned himself a lightweight title shot and with his performance on the weekend he might just go all the way. This past weekend we saw another step in the evolution of the fight game of the Cesar Gracie product as he walked through a ultra tough and experienced opponent in Jim Miller and got the submission victory via guillotine in the 2nd round at UFC on FOX 3.

It was first rumored that Diaz, if victorious, would do battle with kickboxer and former WEC champion Anthony “Showtime” Pettis(15-2) who too was victorious in his last outing against Joe Lauzon at UFC 144 with a vicious head kick KO. Anthony Pettis is also the last man to have a stoppage victory over current lightweight champion Benson Henderson with one of the most insane KO’s ever, the “Showtime kick”.

Diaz instead opted to wait for the title shot, which i think is a good idea, which would come in the form of the winner of the rematch between Henderson vs Edgar II with a date for that event still pending.
